Earth Scape is made out of a solid slap of ancient Rose wood. It was salvaged from an old timber mill in Dorrigo on the mid north coast of Australia. The original tree would of been well over one hundred years old and the piece would of been laying around for close to one hundred more.
I tried to do the least to the timber except to resurface it and bring out its inner beauty. Next to the mill i found a dry river bed and in the wall i found a seam of white clay (ochar) so i thought it was only fitting to use the two components together. While i was on this concept i found a nice rive stone in the same creek and added it to the front pulling the whole sculpture together
